Hard Rock International on Monday night successfully navigated the city’s casino approval process, beating out two other contenders.
Now it must contend with the Illinois Gaming Board.
Armed with a City Council resolution certifying it as Rockford’s choice for the city’s single casino license, an approved host community agreement, and zoning variances for an array of oversized signs — including a 100-foot-tall Hard Rock guitar sign along East State Street and a 60-foot guitar sign that resembles Rick Nielsen’s signature checkerboard guitar at the main entrance — Hard Rock International now will apply for a state casino license.
