Myles P. O’Rourke is a partner with the law firm. His focus is primarily in the area of commercial litigation. Mr. O’Rourke is also currently the acting interim Special States Attorney for Cook County. In this capacity, Mr. O’Rourke represents the State of Illinois in pending lawsuits brought pursuant to the Post-Conviction Hearing Act (725 ILCS 5/122-1, et seq.) and post-judgment proceedings arising under Section 2-1401 of the Illinois Code of Civil Procedure. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. O’Rourke served as Senior Staff Attorney to the Honorable Paul P. Biebel, Jr., Chief Judge of the Criminal Division for the Circuit Court of Cook County.
In commercial litigation, Mr. O’Rourke has obtained summary judgment against a Delaware close corporation for breach of stock purchase agreements and interference with their ownership rights. He also successfully represented a former partner of a law firm in an $18 million dispute with creditors alleging, among other things, common law fraud and RICO violations. He has had ongoing representation of a Fortune 500 equipment leasing company in lawsuits pending in Illinois state and federal courts.
Mr. O’Rourke is a graduate of the University of Virginia (BA, 2001) and a law
graduate of the Loyola University of Chicago School of Law (JD, 2004).
